Mandates
Détail Québec works in collaboration
with retailers and retail employees on a wide variety
of mandates. Its activities focus mainly on:
- identifying needs and issues specific to the sector
(studies, researches, surveys, consultations, etc.)
and developing sector-specific approaches and strategies;
- developing measures to foster employment stabilization
and the reduction of the unemployment rate in the
sector (job fair, on-line placement, etc.);
- taking into account target client groups (youth,
women, persons aged 45 and over, immigrants and
persons with disabilities) and proposing solutions
to businesses;
- circulating relevant information to all retail
businesses and workers in Quebec (communication
tools: Web site, publications, meetings, development
of the committee's image through an exhibition booth,
etc.);
- developing continuing education (training program
for material handlers and delivery persons in the
furniture sector, compensation policy, business
transfers, loss prevention, Diploma of Vocational
Studies (DEP) in Professional Sales, Attestation
of College Studies (AEC) and Diploma of College
Studies (DEC) in Business Management, etc.):
- by participating in the implementation of
the Act to foster the development of manpower
training;
- by identifying the skills needed by retail
workers, with a view to updating and developing
training programs.
