Mandates
Training, skills, and jobs in the retail trade
Détail Québec works in collaboration with retailers and retail employees on a wide variety of mandates. Its main concerns are to:
- identify the sector’s specific needs and issues (studies, research, surveys, consultations, etc.) and to develop sector-specific approaches and strategies
- develop measures that promote employment stabilization and reduce the unemployment rate in the sector (job fair, online placement)
- take into account target client groups (young people, women, persons aged 45 and over, immigrants, and persons with disabilities) and propose solution strategies to retailers
- ensure the circulation of relevant information to all retailers and retail workers in Québec (communications tools: Web site, publications, meetings, an exhibition booth to promote the Committee’s image)
- develop ongoing training (training program for material handlers and delivery persons in the furniture sector, compensation policy, business transfers, loss prevention, Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in Professional Sales, Attestation of College Studies (AEC) and Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Business Management, etc.
- participate in the implementation of the Act to promote workforce skills development and recognition
- identify the skills needed by retail workers, with a view to updating and developing training programs
