Détail Québec
Serving retail businesses
Détail Québec, the retail trade labour sector committee, is a non-profit labour-management organization that brings together employee representatives and workers from the retail trade sector. Its mandate is to improve workforce development by ensuring the competitiveness of businesses across Québec. It covers the entire retail trade sector with the exception of the retail food sector and automobile dealers.
One of Détail Québec’s main challenges is to offer quality services throughout Québec to all of the sector’s businesses and workers.
The retail sector in Québec has approximately 300,000 workers who work in nearly 24,000 businesses spanning 19 activity sub-sectors spread over the province’s 17 administrative regions.
Retail is one of the most important sectors of the Québec economy and is characterized by the small size of its businesses—more than 90% of them have less than 20 employees.
Détail Québec is supported by the Conseil québécois du commerce de détail (CQCD) and the Travailleurs et travailleuses unis de l'alimentation et du commerce (TUAC). It is financed by the Commission des partenaires du marché du travail (CPMT).
